What does it mean to be a "1%er" ?

Whether you've been part of our community since the 90’s or just joined this morning, I’m excited to remind you of what it means to be “1%er” 

The term “1%er” often carries a financial connotation, hinting at the top one percent of wealth holders.

But as we’ve always defined it, being a “1%er”' takes on a significantly deeper and more profound meaning.

When I founded The 1% Club in 1991, my intention was to cultivate a community of motivated individuals who defined their goals in writing, created a strategic plan and reviewed those goals and plans daily.

Over the years, this concept has expanded to embody a host of values that together form the philosophy of The 1% Movement.

At the heart of these values is our core belief: Success Is Not An Accident! 

This principle, which I memorialized in my 1997 book by the same name, underscores our philosophy.

Today, with over 200,000 copies sold, impacting lives via twelve different languages, this book continues to inspire individuals to unlock their full God-given potential.

In the 32 years since I coached my first client, my mission has been to help Christian entrepreneurs grow their wealth without compromising their faith, family, marriage, or health. 

The 1% Club serves as a community for those who believe in purposeful living and intentional success.

This journey has also been deeply personal. 

My conviction in these values has guided me through 29 years of marriage, running my own business and raising three boys – each moment a testament to the idea that success is not random but, instead, a purposeful path that we choose to follow.

Today, as a member of our 1% community, you are part of a unique movement that embraces success as a byproduct of deliberate thinking and very intentional choices.

Yesterday, we revisited the essence of The 1% Movement, recognizing that success is not a random occurrence but a path we consciously choose. 

Today, I invite you to join me as I define the second principle that shapes our shared ethos: "Your Success Blesses Others."

Very simply put - when we succeed, we create positive ripple effects that extend far beyond our initial moment of victory.

For example, when we build a business, we create jobs.

Those with jobs spend money on products and services they desire.

Then those providers benefit and the cascade of success branches out and multiplies. 

A teacher, a dentist, a full time mom are all capable of creating these ripples of success.

Much like a stone cast into a still pond, your success is a catalyst, setting off a chain reaction of positive outcomes that reach far beyond your immediate sphere.

It’s not confined within the walls of your home or the boundaries of your business — instead, it reverberates throughout your community, even the world, creating fresh opportunities and new possibilities.

To become rich, business owners first enrich others with the value generated from their product or service.

Customers benefit.

Employees benefit.

The local economy benefits.

And how would charities do their good work without getting funded by those who have succeeded financially? 

Success is not a selfish island as pop culture often suggests. 

Success is much more like a thriving ecosystem, where risks are taken, service is rendered and lives are transformed through initiative, focus and hard work. 

As a "1%er," your success story will act as a beacon of hope for a budding entrepreneur.

Your guidance will be the turning point for a struggling business. Your philanthropic engagement will change lives in your community.
